چکیده

This paper is a study of the microstructure and other selected properties solid-state, high-speed, rotary friction-welded tungsten mild steel (S355) joints. Due to high affinity for oxygen, welding process was carried out in chamber with an argon protective atmosphere. Joints suitable quality were obtained without any macroscopic defects discontinuities. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) used investigate phase transformations taking place during friction process. Chemical compositions interfaces welded joints determined by using energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The welds consisted few zones, fine equiaxed grains (formed due dynamic recrystallization) ultrafine region on side. A plastic deformation direction flash visible mainly EDS-SEM scan line analyses across interface did not confirm diffusion iron. nature dissimilar joint non-equilibrium based deep diffusive processes zone. absence intermetallic phases found weld SEM observations. Mechanical defined Vickers hardness test instrumented indentation (IIT). results are presented form distribution longitudinal plane joint. fracture strength tests occurred through cleavage planes at grain close surface.

Seam-Tracking for Friction Stir Welded Lap Joints

This article presents a method for automatic seam-tracking in friction stir welding (FSW) of lap joints. In this method, tracking is accomplished by weaving the FSW tool back-and-forth perpendicular to the direction of travel during welding and monitoring force and torque signals. Research demonstrates the ability of this method to automatically track weld seam positions. Additionally, tensile ...

Automatic seam-tracking of friction stir welded T-joints

In this research, a method for implementing automatic seam-tracking for friction stir welding, referred to hear as WeaveTrack, is presented. In this extrumum-seeking control technique, the tool weaves back and forth during welding to maintain the location where axial force is greatest, which is shown to be the center of the weld. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of this technique in tracki...

Generalized Lamb Müdes in Friction Welded Steel Layer On

The evaluation of bond quality between two dissimilar materials is one of the most difficult problems in NDE. Most previous work consisted of analysis of the spectral components of the normal incidence reflected spectrum. In this study, the quality of bond between steel layer and aluminum substrate is investigated using generalized Lamb waves. The dispersion curve for these waves, which has bee...

Effect of Welding Parameters in the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Friction-Welded Joints of 100Cr6 Steel

In this study, high-carbon, chromium alloy steel (100Cr6) having the initial spheroidized microstructure was welded using the rotary friction welding method. The effects of process parameters such as friction time and friction force were experimentally investigated. The friction welded joints were produced of two 100Cr6 steel rods. In order to examine the microstructure and mechanical properti...
